today, i noticed the bright green, raw green, fluorescent green blades of grass, growing on the BCC campus lawn.
long, tall, slender, elegant blades, piercing up out of the sandy new topsoil next to a new building.
they must've planted seeds, because these blades were too sparsely spaced to be sod.
sod can be just irritatingly perfect, and irritatingly thick, and golf-course-looking.
but new grass growing from seed can be delightfully pleasant to look at.
have you ever noticed how BRIGHT new plant growth can be? the green almost burned the surface of my eyeballs.
like when new leaves pop out of the deciduous trees on the drive up to the mountains... so blindingly bright!
is it chlorophyll, or - i can't remember my plant biology one bit.
i just know that that green will carry me for a few days.
it was just that pretty.
and just that green.
