I often think it's funny that, being an amateur potter, I often DON'T like much of the handmade pottery that I see.
Some of it just visually grates on me, like a visual "fingernails on a chalkboard."
I'll admit it seems snobby of me, but nonetheless, it is rare that I find a potter I like (*** I am mainly referring to functional ware here.)
I don't like the the really rough looking stuff, the earthy, hippie, BROWN drippy stuff...
But at the same time, I hate seeing the perfect-looking machine made ceramics at Fred Meyer, in bright garish colors...
Somewhere in the middle of pukey brown, and garishly colored, is a very fine line -
A line which is *polished* yet still *hand-touched*
It is this fine line I seek.
